More precious than jewels...

Note:  This blog entry was composed by my husband David to commission me to start sharing insight with others.... I pray that I would use this wisely for the glory of God....  Thank you to my kind and faithful husband for his words of encouragement...

In the beginning...
I have created a blog to honor my wife, the mother of my children, for Mother's Day this year.

Veronica Shelton has been my best friend for over 20 years.  She was my first real love and I was hers.  We went to college together.  We bought our first house together.  We had 2 kids together.  And most importantly, we found Christ together.

Needless to say, we have shared many experiences that I would not trade for anything.  But this is not Valentines Day, it is Mother's Day.  In honor of my wife on this Mother's Day I would like to talk about what kind of mother she is.

Veronica is a prayerful mother.  Veronica is the type of mother that cries out to God on behalf of her childeren.  She prays earnestly for their salvation and their growing in Christ night and day.  She also prays for herself, that her character and nature would change to resemble Christ so that her children would see Him more clearly in her.

Veronica is a mother that puts obedience to God above obedience to the standards of the world.  She quit a six-figure job to stay home with our kids.  She studied rentlessly and prepared vigorously to home-school our children when many around her were asking her "why would you want to do that?"  Her answer to this question is simply that she was called to do it.

Veronica is a faithful servent.  She was called to be a wife and she is faithful to that calling.  She was called to be a mother and she is faithful to that calling.  She was called to serve in church and she is faithful to that calling.  She was called to be an adopted daughter of God through Christ.  I am confident that in the end, when she sees him face to face, she will hear her King tell her 'well done, my good and faithful servent.'

Of course, this praise would be more majestic than anything I, in my imperfecton, could offer her.  Yet, I will do my best to honor this woman and to thank God for her every day.

So I created a blog for my wife.  I pray that she would use it well and share her considerable wisdom and insight with the world.  But if that idea does not work out I still plan to use this blog to let the world know from time to time what a special lady God has given me.  She really is more precious than the finest jewels.

Happy Mothers Day.

I love you very much.
David
